The décor is the creation of Miguel Câncio Martins, mostly known for Paris' famous Buddha Bar, while the menu is the work of Miguel Castro e Silva, one of Portugal's most acclaimed chefs over the past few years. While every dish has a certain international touch,
everything on your plate will essentially be Portuguese cuisine, perhaps with the exception of the chef's signature foie gras tureen.
The interior is beautiful, with imported furnishings such as Danish lights and a Dutch portico standing out in an attractively-lit space with old columns and sea anemone tanks. The medieval quarter of Alfama, oldest and most picturesque Lisbon medieval quarter, unique and fascinating, is a cobbled labyrinth of narrow streets and turning alleys, cut by steps and archways.

The Pombaline Downtown, dating from the 18th and 19th century, is a remarkable achievement of the Marquis of Pombal, who undertook the enormous task of rebuilding the Lisbon centre carefully planned, with elegant streets and buildings. The Praça do Comércio, known by the locals as Terreiro do Paço, is a huge open space and was the site of the Royal Palace for 400 years. Converted into government administrative offices, this has always been the finest gateway to Lisbon, when royalty and ambassadors would alight and take the marble steps up from the river.

The Rua Augusta is a lively pedestrian street, decorated with mosaic pavements and lined with boutiques and open air cafés. The Rossio Square which dominates the heart of the city, has been the nerve centre of Lisbon for six centuries, and is today a social focal point with cafés, bakeries, souvenir shops, jewellers and the National Theatre with a neo-classical structure.

The elegant commercial district of Chiado, a noble shopping area with all sorts of facilities and street entertainment. Here participants will find theatres, bookshops, museums, restaurants, famous Portuguese fashion houses and the famous haunt of personalities like Fernando Pessoa and Eça de Queiroz, in a location actually chosen by the city's art students: the café "A Brasileira".

The Hilltop "Bairro Alto": old and fascinating late 16th century hilltop area with picturesque houses and narrow streets now exhibiting fashionable restaurants and bars.

As an alternative to the normal walking visit of this Historical area, we suggest organization of a different way of discovering the city. We would be happy to send you our suggestions.

nightlife (Bairro Alto), has a long tradition. Been founded in the year 1842, shortly after its foundation it became a meeting point for artists and intellectuals within became known as the "Grupo do Leão" (The Lion Group) and perpetuated in a well known painting named after the group it was painted by Columbano, a famous and innovative Portuguese artist, representative of this generation.
