What makes Dubrovnik a great destination

Why Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic Sea, has risen like a phoenix from its ashes about 25 years ago. It is simply stunning, set on the coast of the Adriatic sea with its turquoise waters.

This beautiful old town has been reclaimed not just as a Croatian treasure but also as one of the world's treasures; a fact that was officially recognized when the United Nations declared this medieval town as a World Cultural Heritage site. Its fortresses, imposing walls surrounding the city, palaces, churches and small streets form a nice harmony with the nature and tell a history on their own.

It is a great setting for incentives, groups and events. It all adds up to The Incentive Destination in Europe, why not give it a try?

The beauty of the Adriatic coast has been memorized for centuries by famous artists, writers and poets. George Bernard Shaw wrote “Those people seeking paradise on earth, should come and visit Dubrovnik.”

Day 1

On arrival at Dubrovnik Airport transfer to the
scenic township of Cavtat where ancient ruins and Renaissance palaces combine with a palm
fringed harbor to create a picture perfect setting. After a traditional welcome snack of dried
figs, Dalmatian smoked ham, cheese and local wine continue by boat to Dubrovnik's Old City passing pretty seaside villages and picturesque islands of Mrkan and Bobara.

There is no more spectacular entrance to the Old City than by the blue Adriatic sea. Wander the wide marbled pedestrian Placa boulevard, taking in the breathtaking sights before checking in at the hotel of choice.

Welcome dinner showcasing the region's gastronomic tradition at popular local restaurant.

Day 2

Konavle, the southernmost area of Dubrovnik, is a fertile valley with olive trees and wineries and which is enclosed by the mountains of Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Konavle cliffs at the seaside. During centuries the Konavle region kept his outstanding qualities: its living traditions, customs, handicrafts, economy, folklore, beautiful folk costumes and the hospitality of the people.
On your way you will pass through many authentic villages and stop at several points to meet local people, taste their home made products, and learn more about local crafts...
12:00h Departure from the Gruž harbor; the region Konavle is located 30km from Dubrovnik (about 40/50 min)

POSSIBLE TASTINGS:
At the Flour Mill you will be welcomed by the owner who will offer you a choice of Croatian homemade liqueurs and will give you a demonstration and history of his mill
that is still functioning the same way for over centuries

Right next to the flour mill one can visit a reconstruction of a Wool Press, which was of vital importance to the locals in the process of production of traditional costumes,
clothes, coats...

At Hone y Producer's House you will have opportunity to see how honey is produced.

At the Olive Mill you will visit one of the oldest olive mills in the region owned by the Sapro family being now a museum. You will have the opportunity to taste their home
made olive oil, homemade bread, cheese, Dalmatian smoked ham, and wine...You will also learn of how the olive oil was produced in the traditional way.

Typical Konavle House presents the past and present of countryside everyday life. Here you will experience a small, three vaulted rooms etno museum presenting a large chunk
of Konavle region history, a tavern with a wine cellar and a variety of agricultural structures including the garden, a stable and an ancient "gumno" that serves for
extracting grain.

Local products that the household products can be bought.
AFTER THE VISIT, A TYPICAL LUNCH IS GOING TO BE SERVED

Typical lunch or dinner: meat and potatoes made under the iron bell can be organized after or in the middle of the visits. The "Peka" is a metal cover more or less thick, often made of iron. Under the cover in "Peka", there is veal and lamb topped with potatoes and vegetables which is a very popular dish.
