Cansaf DMC Botswana

In 1983 Cansaf started operating as a walking and canoeing safaris company (that's where our name comes from: Canoeing Safaris).  In 1998 we made the move and started operating as a full DMC. Over the years, we have built up a company well-known for our creative proposals. Our focus is Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe in the Victoria Falls area.  At Cansaf we have the knowledge and expertise to plan and operate your whole travel to Botswana - resulting in a carefree stay in our country. If you need creative suggestions for your next event, we are the right partner for you.

Abenteuer Afrika Safari

What makes Botswana a great destination

 Why Botswana

Botswana is simply paradise for safari and nature lovers. A large part of the country is formed by the Kalahari desert, resulting in beautiful dry desert scenery.

The world-famous Okavanga delta which attracts all wildlife, can be seen by both boat, canoe or safari vehicle. To peddle with your canoe and see elephants on the river banks, crocodiles sunning themselves and hippos breathing bubbles of water is such a wonderful way to be part of what makes Botswana unique.

Our country has beautiful lodges, great bomas, fantastic game viewing and Cansaf to make the most of what it has to offer - a unique experience.

Day 1

Arrive Kasane Airport and transfer to Mowana
Transfer Kasane Airport to Mowana. This is a road transfer done in 4x4 game drive vehicles. This transfer would take approximately 20 mins. Cansaf would be able to arrange traditional dancers to meet the group on arrival upon request.

Arrival at Mowana and check in
On the banks of the Chobe River in Northern Botswana, a new experience awaits the inquisitive traveller to Africa. Cresta Mowana or the Great Baobab as it means in Setswana, inspired the design of the new safari lodge. Thatched in rich yellow, Mowana's reception area nestles around the massive trunk of the ancient tree.
The Mowana Safari Lodge is home to 112 luxury rooms specially designed to blend in with the unique African surroundings. All rooms are airconditioned with spectacular views of the Chobe River; have ensuite bathrooms, own balconies. The main facilities at Mowana are an outdoor swimming-pool, set in a natural landscape, the Serondella Restaurant and Savuti Bar overlooking the ever-changing Chobe River, the Boma Terrace and pool bar, a guest lounge for private entertaining, designer jewellery and curio shop, and a hairdressing salon in a treehouse with a view of the river and a fantastic 9-hole Golf Course.
For game viewing, The Mowana offers guests great flexibility. The professional guides lead game drives in customized open 4x4 game viewing vehicles and water activities in specially adapted safari motor boats. Sundowner Cruises are particularly spectacular for sunsets on the Chobe River. Fishing excursions are also available. The backdrop of breathtaking vistas and magnificent sunsets seen from this lodge brings you face to face with the wildlife of the African bush. Activities from the Lodge include Game Drives, Boat Cruises and fishing.

Welcome Riverside Dinner
The Riverside set up is situated in a more remote, private section of the Hotel.
If extra lighting, PA system etc would be required at the dinner, this can be arranged. If you would like tentage for ambience, then we would recommend freeform tents as these can be set up to suit the group. Optional entertainment can be provided on request.

Overnight Mowana

Day 2

At leisure (morning / afternoon scheduled activities)

Kgotla Village Dinner - Traditional African Village Dinner
Built in the bush 100 meters away from the lodge, an African Village setting enclosed by three thatched rondavels made of river reeds is the dinner venue for this evening. The set up is such that the guests sit on the logs and eat from their laps on traditional enamel metal plates and cups.
Three legged pots are used as serving

Day 3

The Chobe Challenge - The Bushman's Chase
Creative Teaming Amazing Race
Discover the Mystery, 'The Legend of the Elephant'
Unravel the Clues, Encounter the Traditions, Explore the Intricacies of the African Bush, Understand the History and Geography and Learn the Secrets.
The Chobe Challenge Bushman's Chase combines the elements of African tribal culture and customs, wildlife and the surrounding bush, the waterways of the Chobe and the Zambezi, as the backbone to this Creative Teaming Amazing Race.
Teams are pitted against each other, in an incredible contest, of discovery and adventure.
The teams never know where they're going next or what they'll have to do once they get there. Each team's relationship will be forever impacted by their experience in this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. At each destination, the Teams will have to solve some small mystery or compete in a series of tasks, mental or physical, before learning their next destination.
Teams are forced to rely on their wit and ingenuity, crisis management, decision-making, lateral thinking, problem solving, and communication.
On a voyage that takes them exploring, navigating, bargaining, and paddling fuelled by initiative and desperation not to finish last.
The Confluence of the Chobe River with the Mighty Zambezi River happens at a unique spot in Africa where the borders of four Countries meet at a single point.
Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia,
Share the meeting point of these magnificent rivers in this corner of Africa.
This special point in the Geography of Africa is home to the world's largest continuous Elephant population, estimated at well over 120 000, here we find the incredible Chobe National Park, one of the greatest concentrations of game found on the African continent.
This is the magnificent backdrop for the
The Chobe Challenge bushman's chase
The race combines 3 elements,
The Chobe National Park, the Chobe River and the Town of Kasane
It will include some or all of the following:
Game/Bird viewing, Spoor identification, Sangoma rituals and rites, Guinea Fowl Herding, Bargaining, Photo Quest, The Kasane Baobab Jail, Packing of Shelves in a local Supermarket, Finding a Message in a Bottle
Lunch would be an informal packed lunch which could be taken at any stage during the group's programme.

Final Tribal Council
The Tribal Council should take place at the end of the day after completion of the activities. This is often best done with pre-dinner drinks or as part of the finale dinner.
